Hello everyone, the longest gap between two releases so far. Big vacations, and a lot of it went into plumbing you will never see, but a few things you asked for are finally in.
What’s New
Dark Mode
A theme switch is now in the navigation bar. By default the site follows your system setting.
Deleting Your Account
You can now delete your account yourself, from your profile. Your activations and your hunts go with it. Two things stay: the hunts other people made on your activations, because those are their points and not yours, and your callsign as an operator, because that data is already public on SOTAdata and POTA.
Bugs & Improvements
Avatars
Gravatar avatars work. The cause was on our side and had nothing to do with your Gravatar account: ZOTA never built the avatar address for accounts created through the signup form, so the field stayed empty whatever you configured. It is now computed when the page is displayed, so your avatar shows up on its own, with nothing to do. Thanks @Jean-Pierre, @F5RQG and OM1DLC, who reported it by email, and @F4LJA for lending a hand in the thread.
Readable Links
Menu and team links became nearly invisible when hovered, because the brand yellow was used as a text colour far below the readable contrast threshold. Text now uses a darker shade. The yellow stays where it belongs, on buttons and badges.
Loading
Pages no longer jump around while loading. Lists and tables show a placeholder shaped like the content instead of a full-screen spinner.
Faster Pages
The map, rankings, territory and news pages are now rendered on the server, so they appear sooner.
Imports
SOTA and POTA imports now report their failures and retry instead of stopping
quietly. An interrupted import can no longer leave you with fewer hunts than you had before it started.
Security & Privacy
Several access-control gaps were closed, sign-in attempts are now rate limited, the login form no longer reveals whether an address has an account, and personal data no longer leaves the server in API responses. All of it is now covered by automated tests so it does not come back.
